We had a party for Renyvon, was so special to see him so happy. He really has come a long way, it's really great to see how well he is doing in school, and he seems to be doing really well here, adapting once again. Was so fun to celebrate his life, and his 16th birthday!! It was such an honor for us to be a part of Renyvon's special day. We are excited to see all God is going to do with his life, we know he has great plans. Please pray with us for Renyvon that God would help him to continue to do well in school, to forgive his family for his past hurts and see how much our heavenly Father truly loves him. We know God has something special planned for Renyvon.

Sometimes the little things to us are really the big things to them. The boys were blessed by Paul and Nancy with a movie and a night of pizza, they thoroughly enjoyed themselves. They loved the movie, said it was awesome! And they had a really good time out at pizza as well. So glad we could enjoy this night with them, its such a privilege to see their joy! We are thankful to Paul and Nancy for this special outing! :)

We just had carnival here in Brasil so the boys were off school for four days, it was pretty fun. We had to create things to do to keep them busy, and out of trouble. Monday we went to the beach which was packed with people, everyone from neighboring cities came to Espirito Santo to enjoy the beaches. Tuesday we had a BBQ and then we had a day of activities with a relay race, musical chairs, balloon toss, puzzle race, capture the flag..and a couple indoor games. The boys were very competitive as always, but it turned out to be a fun day. I hope you enjoy the pictures.... It was a blast to enjoy this day with the boys, we think they had a lot of fun too! We're thankful for quality time spent with the boys...and seeing the joy on their faces!

I got to come back to SD for a visit and it has been so great to spend time with friends and family! The weather has been quite the shock to my system to say the least. The first day I arrived, SD greeted me with 7 degree weather. YIKES!!! Coming from Summer time in Brasil it has been quite the adjustment. Layering up with lots of sweaters etc has been my means of survival! :) My greatest gift of being home has been to meet my sweet niece Gwyneth, she is such a doll and such a happy baby! It has been so much fun to get to know her, and spend some precious time with her! She brightens my day, so much fun to be around and see her smile! After 7 years, I finally got to spend Thanksgiving at home with family, it was such a blessing!! Don't think the food has ever tasted so good. It was so special to be able to share moments of thankfulness from our year, and really enjoy our time together, every moment seemed so special. I missed Bruno terribly, and at moments it was a tearful day for me, him not being able to share in this day, but it was such a gift. Family means so much, especially after seeing so many boys who aren't able to have such a loving/caring family. It means that much more to me, it opens my eyes to see how very blessed I am! Alijah had a thanksgiving program at his school, He invited my Mom and I to go. It was pretty special to me to be able to be here, and a part of his special day at school! They sang a couple songs for us and then we got to eat pumpkin pie. He did such a great job!! I've had such a wonderful time so far! I look forward to making some Christmas memories, making cookies, enjoying the lights, and music before I return home to Brasil. These memories have been so sweet and I'm so thankful for this time with family and friends!!
This Tuesday was a very special day, we had two birthdays to celebrate! Daniel had his 17th birthday and got to share it with Eloina (married to Carlos). We had quite the celebration, popcorn and soda, a game of mafia, chocolate cake and of course presents! It was such an honor to be able to celebrate this special day with them! Eloina is such a kind person, always inviting you over to her house, willing to talk or do your nails. It was fun to be able to celebrate her, and do something nice for her on this very special day. We are super proud of Daniel and how far he has come, God has done an amazing work in his life! When he first arrived he had a severe addiction to drugs and was trying everything possible to not stay here. But one day his Mom brought him here in tears, because someone was threatening his life, begging us to let him stay. Ever since then he decided he wanted to change, and is doing very well. He is taking classes and taking tests on a weekly basis. He is also in a program where he is learning to do accounting, also people skills and etiquette, and after his training he will then work at a grocery store. We are honored to be a part of his life, and all God is doing. We are excited to see all the great plans God has for his life, and what his future will bring! It was such a privilege to celebrate his 17th Birthday! May God Bless you Daniel, in all that you do and guide your steps in the decisions you make. We are so proud of you!! Today I am thankful for my Mama! Yesterday was her special day and we got invited to her party (via Skype) it was a lot of fun, kinda felt like we were actually there. It's pretty hard to find the words to describe just how special my Mama is to me. She is so loving and caring and always worried about me and Bruno and how we are doing. She always takes the time to send us cards or packages just to show that she cares. I have never found a truer friend, she always takes the time to listen to my heart, and genuinely feels for me and encourages me through each situation. I know that she is always in my corner and she is my greatest cheerleader. My mother is a shoulder to cry on and a friend to laugh with. I am so thankful for her life and all the time she sacrifices to talk with me on Skype...'technology not sure where I'd be without it'. Since it was her special day We wanted to take the time and let her know how awesome we think She is, we had a little fun in the process too! We think She's pretty great!! Because of your special day we take the time to Honor you and say thank you for everything you do for us. We don't take lightly all the prayers and encouragements, the packages and cards, and laughs and Skype calls. Thank you for always supporting me, and telling me to follow my heart. Letting me go and supporting me as I follow God's will, even when it went going way over to Brasil. Thank you for being so tender to God's heart and teaching me what being compassionate and loving towards others really means. I see my Grandpa in you in so many ways, through your caring heart, your gentle spirit and your deep empathy for others. I never questioned your love for me, you made it evident every single day!
Happy Birthday Mama.......We are so thankful for your Life!! I love you! Today I am thankful for Family....When I felt like God was calling me to Brasil and this journey began, my family chose to support me every step of the way. The fact that they trusted that I could hear God's voice, and was deciding to follow his lead, they chose to let go even though that meant I would be living across the world. Letting go of their little girl, it's difficult but they knew it was the right thing to do. So, today I am thankful for them and their constant love and support in my life. Knowing that I always have people in my corner fighting for me, that will never give up on me makes all the difference. Their sleepless nights praying for me and their encouraging words, have made this journey possible. And when I met the love of my life, knowing that He is brasillian and that could mean living far from them at long lengths of time, they still embraced him with all their love, as they would their own son or brother. Their sacrifice to come all the way here to be a part of our special day, all they sacrificed, means so much to us. To receive Bruno with such love, and care for him as they would their own son, makes my heart full. I am so thankful for all they have done for us and continue to do for us. Late night skype calls for advice and prayer. Praying with us over the lives of these boys and the influence we have in their lives. For the wisdom and advice they share through their many years of marriage. The care packages and cards just to show they care, and meeting my US cravings sending foods I'm missing. :) For the reminders to laugh and enjoy life, in the difficult times. I'm so thankful for their constant sacrifice, care, love and grace they extend to us everyday. Thank you for being our biggest cheerleaders, on this crazy journey we call life!!
I decided I needed a friendly reminder to be thankful, so Thursdays are the days I choose to take the time to ponder what I'm thankful for. Today I am thankful for my Hubby.... He has been a constant support for me through all the ups and downs. His prayers and encouragement have truly been what has kept me going. His constant love and patience for me are far more then I deserve. After each long day working with the boys and other social dads, he comes home and takes the time to listen to what's on my heart and what my day was like. He takes such good care of me, this week I've been dealing with a couple minor health things, and he has gone to every doctor appointment with me, and made sure I got whatever medication I needed. He makes me laugh and reminds me to find joy in the little things. I am safe to be myself, however goofy that may be, knowing he will join in with me. I am beyond blessed by this wonderful man God has given me, today I am reminded why I said I do, and I am thankful for this journey we are on together. I'm so grateful I get to do life with you by my side!
"Love is not about how much you say I love you, but how much you prove it's true". We had such a great time celebrating Leandro's 17th birthday! He is such a delight to have around, and it's been such an honor to watch him grow and mature into the young man he is today! There were cupcakes, lots of laughs, many pictures and a movie to end the night. To see the joy on his face as we celebrated his special day made it all worth it! It's hard to believe Leandro is already 17, and will soon be moving over to the Republica, where he will find a job, and more responsibility. It was such a privilege to celebrate his life and the work God has done in him! Please say a special prayer for him this week, that God would continue to lead and guide him in all he does. That he would give him wisdom in all the decisions he makes, that his path would be made clear. Also, that Leandro could see how deeply our Father loves him.
