This year we had the privilege of teaching the boys how to make stockings. It was a lot of fun to watch them get creative and enjoy themselves! Each one with their own unique ideas. They really turned out great!

Just a couple pictures of the boys decorating their Christmas tree, Bruno giving instructions of course. Hope you enjoy as much as we did! :) Merry Christmas from our Family to yours.... 70 people…are you sure we can do this?! At first the idea of cooking for 70 people was very overwhelming but once we got started most of it went smoothly. Lots of bean casserole and peelings potatoes, cooking the turkeys etc. The idea was very daunting but all of us working together, it went pretty quickly. There were fourof us Americans to get the job done, but with a plan in hand it all started coming together. We cooked up until that 1:00 mark and the stress did come but in the end it turned out very nice.
It was a lot of fun to be able to serve all of the boys and staff here at Hope Moutain. For the brasillians to taste our traditional (term used lightly) American Thanksgiving was a blessing. Some of it was very different for them, such as the stuffing, but for the most part we received many positive comments. We created a huge turkey that we put on the wall, we call our thankful turkey. Everyone had different colored feathers on their tables and were to write something they were thankful for this year on their feather, then we stapled them to our lovely turkey. It’s a nice reminder to look at and remember to be thankful for the many blessings God gives us throughout the year. Tears filled my eyes as I read over them that night and saw that many of the boys were so thanksful for Bruno and I, and us taking care of them. What an honor to be their “family”. I hope you were blessed this thanksgiving as you shared time with your family and friends. "If you have the power to make someone happy, do it. The world needs more of that." |
